A Performance and Exhibition Project:
Symbiosis
The living laboratory inspiring the H.I.V.E. structure, where transdisciplinarity intersects technology and the human body.
Project Manifesto
Today's audience is tired of the traditional theater space that divides the stage and the audience, and is increasingly moving away from classic staging formats. A shared space where viewers co-exist and interact with the displayed objects has become more appealing.
A phenomenon that greatly attracts the attention of museums and contemporary art centers today is that objects, which usually exist in a permanent and material form, transcend their time-based and material forms within a performance.
Art spaces offer audiences the opportunity to experience different contemporary dance and choreographies up close. Considering the path taken and the conceptual infrastructure, it is observed that a module capable of expanding and shrinking, producing innovative, non-resident, and transdisciplinary works in the dance-performance field has been created, specifically within the CERModern Modern Arts Center.

"H.I.V.E." As a Structure
Its purpose goes beyond merely staging a performance or a dance piece. The first steps of the structure were taken through a flexible formation that questions, occupies, has a permeable nature, acts on ideas that can meet the requirements of the time, and can work on a project basis.
The Hive, as its name suggests, is a reference to the idea of a laboratory space capable of producing and providing ground for productions in other fields that can be articulated to it through the cells it contains; such as painting, video art, sculpture, new media, and VR Technologies. The Hive has two special areas; the production and experiment area – “Playground” and the exhibition area – “Liquid Dreams”. In this context, the first prepared project is “Symbiosis”.
The Concept of Symbiosis and the Laboratory
The Symbiosis project was initially conceived as a multi-layered interactive performance and exhibition project. The project prioritizes the idea of performative bodies creating a new kind of life form, making the audience a part of the story, by tracing the phases of symbiosis such as mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism in a fundamentally designed reality.
It is aimed to intertwine physical reality with digital reality and create a new form of expression in a completely 3D Immersive space. Prosthetics and wearable amplifiers are being designed for the reconstruction of the bodily form. With modules prepared by sound engineers, it is intended to integrate the atmosphere of the space, aiming for sound, light, and visual elements to communicate and complement each other like a living organism through the sensors on the dance artists.
