Frida
Offering glimpses from the life of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, the piece approaches the life struggle of one of the 20th century's most important art icons with modern dance dynamics. The story of a strong woman clinging to life through art despite polio and permanent damage left by a severe bus crash is transferred to the stage.
Direction and Staging Approach
During the staging process, Frida's life was structured with a panoramic design and leaps in time. In the project adopting an epic and open-form exhibition approach where space and time are handled abstractly, the perception of time-space is broken through gradually decreasing decor pieces and collages reflecting on the construction. By integrating different art disciplines, inner feelings and external atmosphere are reflectively projected on stage in a balanced manner.
