The Spirit of Çanakkale at the Presidential Complex: Giant Production 'Şüheda 1915'
History and Art Meet at Beştepe: A Giant Cast of 590 People
Prepared under the auspices of the Ministry of National Education, the theatrical play 'Şüheda 1915' was staged at the Beştepe Nation Congress and Culture Center with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the occasion of the 111th anniversary of the Çanakkale Naval Victory.
"The piece dramatically narrates the heroism of the Turkish soldier, the human side of war, and the concept of martyrdom; while reviving historical memory by building a strong bond between the past and the present."
The work, which brings historical memory to the stage in an aesthetic form through human stories, came to life with a giant cast of approximately 590 artists. In the play directed by Bora Severcan and choreographed by Özgür Adam İnanç, the great struggle on the Çanakkale Front was narrated with the unique harmony of the MEB Maarif Symphony Orchestra, Choir, Theater, and Folk Dance Ensembles. The defense of the homeland and the courage of the Turkish soldier were conveyed to the audience with a diplomatic style and the universal language of contemporary performing arts.
Shaped under the history and script consultancy of Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tekin; the work presented themes of lament, resistance, and hope to the audience far from ideological molds, with a choreographic architecture where massive crowds move accompanied by symphonic music.
